WORKSHOP
“Mycelium-Based Materials: Carbon-Negative Biofabrication for Construction & Packaging
Extended Workshop Description”
We bring together leading academic scientists and researchers!
September 15th, 2026 1pm - 5pm
Scope of the event
Mycelium-based materials are biodegradable, fire-resistant, and carbon-negative alternatives for insulation, packaging, and structural components. By controlling fungal growth within agricultural waste substrates, scalable biofabrication processes can produce lightweight, sustainable materials with low embodied carbon.
This workshop explores fungal growth engineering, mechanical performance testing, architectural integration, and commercialization strategies.
The objective is to accelerate the mainstream adoption of fungal biomaterials in construction and packaging industries.
Key Takeaways & Outputs
• Biological engineering of mycelium composites
• Structural and fire-resistance performance
• Carbon sequestration metrics
• Industrial scaling and supply chains
• Certification and regulatory frameworks
• Commercial case studies
